Golden Moor began in 1987. It was founded by Marc Saint-Onge (of Ottawa). Initially, Saint-Onge started the company in his home, using a a washing machine to mix ingredients. After an extensive search of 63 bogs, Marc discovered a bog in Casselman, for which he has a 25-year contract for extraction rights. The quality of the moor in this area is of higher quality than any moor used elsewhere in the world.
